Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A preprototype (brassboard model) Infrared Temperature Profile Radiometer (ITPR) was tested on the NASA Convair-990 aircraft expedition during June 1970. The objectives of the airborne ITPR experiment were to obtain data to test various techniques planned for deriving temperature soundings from spaceborne ITPR measurements and to specify the transmission characteristics of the atmosphere and clouds. This paper describes the instrument and shows various results obtained from the airborne measurements.
