J Reskelly But few words are necessary by way of preface to this volume. Numerous friends and admirers expressed a strong wish that a memento in the shape of a book should be prepared. The singular devotion which Mrs. Reskelly unconsciously won from friends connected with her public work, as well as from those within the inner circle of private intimacy, gave additional emphasis to this request. It was also pointed out that her poetic talent warranted a reproduction of her works in permanent form. On these grounds, therefore, the compilation of this volume was undertaken. The editor's grateful thanks are due to the ready sympathisers who have allowed their letters, sketches, sermons, etc., to appear. Whilst no attempt has been made to prepare a complete and consecutive biography, yet it is hoped that sufficient material has been collected for the presentation of a faithful picture of an unusually beautiful Christian character. Some repetition unavoidably occurs, owing to the several contributors dwelling in common upon leading characteristics, which were universally acknowledged.
