The body of his comment on film was large, original and varied. From late 1941 to the middle of 1948, he was movie reviewer for Time, and from the fall of 1942 to 1948, he also wrote the movie column for The Nation . Agee had a very clear sense of what he looked for in a movie, and he felt strongly that the movie (essentially an industry for entertainment) had within it the obvious potential of a virile modern art form, yet one only occasionally fulfilled.
