Book excerpt: Hello, my name is Baxter and I am a Chab. For those of you who don't know what that is, let me tell you. I am a dog, my mom was a Labrador Retriever and my dad was a Chow Chow. I live with my furless parents now, the woman, the boy and the man. They were very nice and adopted me after my parents were taken from the farm we lived on. I was all alone in the big cold barn when a man picked me up and took me to the pound. I thought I would never have a safe home again, but then a wonderful woman came in and picked me up and took me home. That was over five years ago and I have been the dog of the house ever since. Come outside and join me and my friends as we go on some amazing adventures in my backyard!
