The course contributes to the IMO's environmental protection goals as set out in resolutions A.947(23) and A.998(25) by promulgating industry "Best Practices", which reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the negative impact of global shipping on climate change. The course also covers essential subjects to develop management tools to assist a shipping company in managing the environmental performance of its ships. Therefore, the contents of the course reflect the guidance for the development of a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP), resolution MEPC.213(63), adopted 2 March 2012.
