Book excerpt: This final environmental impact statement documents the analysis of five alternatives (A through D, including B-modified) developed by the Forest Service to revise the land and resource management plan, as amended, for the Inyo National Forest (1988). The revised land management plan would provide for the programmatic management of approximately 2 million acres administered by the Inyo National Forest. The alternatives are described in more detail in chapter 2. Alternative A is the no-action alternative, and would keep in place the management direction from the Inyo National Forest's land and resource management plan, as amended. Alternative B-modified is a modified version of the draft revised plan (alternative B) and it is the preferred alternative
