Book excerpt: This book provides a multi-stakeholder analysis of socio-economic and geopolitical factors that shape university strategies for student mobility in the interconnected "glonacal" places spurred into existence by the international division of labor and multi-level knowledge networks. Case-studies of universities in four global cities, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Vancouver, will examine how the confluence of stakeholder pressures in global, national and local (glonacal) mandates influence social and geospatial student mobility in search of self-realization and professional growth. The case-studies serve to illustrate how universities create and implement strategies to help local and international students cope with these pressures.
