This report is part of a larger effort to summarize information on subsistence seabird harvest activities in eight arctic circumpolar countries under the auspices of the multilateral agreement called the Arctic Environmental Protection Strategy. In accordance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act it is legal for Eskimos and Indians to harvest 20 species of seabirds in Alaska. The estimated annual harvest of seabirds and their eggs in Alaska is 7,222 and 45,071, respectively. Most seabirds and eggs are harvested in the Bering Sea region. The most commonly harvested seabird groups are murres and auklets, which together represent about 72% of the total subsistence bird harvest in Alaska.
