Book Synopsis The Origin of Metamorphic and Metasomatic Rocks by : Hans Ramberg

Download or read book The Origin of Metamorphic and Metasomatic Rocks written by Hans Ramberg and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A successful tackling of the complex problems in metamorphic petrology depends heavily upon thermodynamics and crystal chemistry. A liberal portion of the present book is therefore devoted to those aspects of thermodynamics and general crystal chemistry which are especially significant for the clarification of metamorphic and metasomatic phenomena. It cannot be emphasized too strongly, however, that much more knowledge and understanding of these basic sciences are needed than may be gained from the present book. Topic examined include fundamental principles of thermodynamics and individual cases of equilibrium systems of metamorphic minerals, discussion of general principles of petrogenesis, and the consideration of some unsolved problems in petrology.
