Mr. Jeong O Park is a university professor teaching Romanian studies in South Korea. He has published over 50 research articles and 14 books on Romanian politics, economy, society, culture, and history. While conducting research at UC Berkeley as a visiting scholar, he wrote 60 columns for the Korea Times in the US. For his contribution to teaching Romanian studies in Korea, he was awarded the "Merit for Education" Order of Romania, by the Romanian president, Traian Băsescu, in 2007. He also earned the Diploma of Excellence from the Romanian Ştefan Grigore National Resurrection and National Unity Foundation in 2016. This book is a compilation of the materials and experiences he collected during his 40 trips to every corner of Romania over the last 30 years. This book comprises two volumes. The second volume is titled Travel Romania, Tour of Major Cities in Romania. It is an enthralling travel guide introducing Romanian cities along with practical travel tips. Examples of topics in this book include: The Parliament of Romania is the heaviest and second-largest building in the world. (p. 9) Therme Bucharest is also the largest thermal bath complex in Europe. (p. 9) When you arrive in the city of Bușteni and take the cable car up to the Bucegi Mountains, you will see The cross commemorating the Romanian heroes of the First World War. The cross is the world's tallest cross on a mountain peak, according to Guinness World Record (2014) and the World Record Academy (2020). Bușteni is famous for its strong energy vortex, just like Sedona in the United States, Egypt, and Tibet. (pp. 68-72) The Alba Carolina Citadel is the largest Vauban fortress in southeast Europe. The Italian architect Giovanni Viscont designed and built the citadel, with a perimeter of 12 kilometers and an area of 110 hectares in the Vauban style between 1715 and 1738. The Fortifications of Vauban is a star-shaped military fortress developed by the French soldier Vauban in the 17th century. After giving advice to Louis XIV, Vauban, the best fortress designer of his time, built the fortress of Vauban to strengthen the French border. (p. 133) Timişoara, with a history of over 800 years, became a European Capital of Culture in 2023. This city turned on electric lights, becoming the second fully illuminated city in the world in 1884, after New York. (pp. 9, 157) The city of Oradea was included in the European Art Nouveau network in 2012, along with Vienna, Barcelona, Brussels, Nance, and Budapest. (p. 182) People who visit the only Merry Cemetery in the world, located in Maramureș County, may burst into laughter when reading the humorous epitaphs. (p. 224) The Sighet Memorial Museum forms one of the three most renowned memorials in Europe, together with the Auschwitz Memorial and the Normandy Peace Memorial. (p. 217) The BBC chose Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre in the city of Iaşi as the second most beautiful theater in the world. (p. 242) The city of Constanța is famous for the Glykon Serpent, a unique statue in the world, and for the two statuettes of the Thinker and the Seated Woman. It is said that the value of the Glykon Serpent cannot be calculated. Therefore, this statue could not be taken abroad until now due to its high insured value. The Thinker and the Seated Woman, created in the Stone Age about 8,000 years ago, are also considered masterpieces of primitive art. In the 1990s, the UNESCO Commission included The Thinker in the list of "10 artifacts that should never be lost to the world." (pp. 264-265) Buy this book now and start exploring Romania!
