Book excerpt: TULSA'S ZIGZAG STYLE, ART DECO ARCHITECTURE is a photographic exploration of what remains of the Art Deco Zigzag style in Tulsa. Many of the buildings have been demolished, some have collapsed, and many more have been remodeled. In 2010, the central part of downtown Tulsa was designated as the "Oil Capital Historic District". Many of the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This collection of images is the result of a yearlong project to capture the spirit of an era that combined the elegance of fine art with the practicality of industrial design and architecture.
