Book excerpt: Excerpt from Oration on the Life and Public Services of Daniel Webster: Delivered Before the Bar of Cincinnati, November 22nd, 1852 At a subsequent meeting, Mr. Gholson, from the committee above named, made the following report, which was adopted: - The Committee appointed to report proper arrangements for the delivery of a public oration before the Bar of Hamilton county, in honor of the late Daniel Webster, respectfully submit the following: That the Hon. Timothy Walker be requested to deliver the oration, at Smith & Nixon's Hall, on the evening of the 22d day of November, 1802 at 71⁄2 o'clock, to which time and place this meeting of the Bar shall be adjourned; and that the present officers shall continue to act. That the Clergy of the city be invited to attend; and that the Chairman be instructed to request one of them to open, and another to close the proceedings with prayer. That the members of the Bar of Covington, of Newport, and of the surrounding counties of the State, be invited to attend, and unite with the members of this Bar in rendering honor to the memory of the great and distinguished brother of their profession.
