Those hopes were dashed when, on December 2, 1994, Stephen entered his apartment to find his wife's lifeless body on their bed. For Terry and his family, it would take another 29 years before justice could finally be served. Terry Ladwig was born Larry Earl Thompson Jr. On April 13, 1966, in the Philippines. It's not known exactly when. But her family eventually made the move to Kansas while Terry was still a child. Supported by her family, Terry began to identify as a transgender female. She eventually moved into the East Bay area in Concord, California, and began working as a cashier at a convenience store. It was in Concord that she met her future husband, Stephen Ladwig.
