Prevention of the disease is accomplished by removing all dead trees (sanitation) and breaking all root grafts between infected and healthy root systems, either by trenching or by chemical disruption. The disease causes economic loss in a variety of ways. Many trees simply are not used when they die. Of those that are salvaged, many are degraded due to staining of the vascular system, which can occur in diseased trees. Quarantine restrictions have had a direct effect on the overseas shipment of oak logs. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
