Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bethel Thoroughfare Plan A preliminary thoroughfare plan for Bethel was adopted by the Town of Bethel on October 9, 1979, and the North Carolina Board of Transportation on November 9, 1979. The plan was jointly developed by Thoroughfare Planning Section. The mid-east Commission and the town of Bethel. It is documented in the Statewide Planning Group's files. In December of 1987, the town of Bethel requested the assistance of the North Carolina Department of Transportation in the review and up-date of the 1979 plan. The town noted that there were some obvious error which needed to be corrected as well as changes that are imminent and probably need addressing in the Thoroughfare Plan. The purpose of this report is to document the study findings and recommendations. Included are recommendations for thoroughfare cross sections, cost estimates, for recommended improvements, and recommendations for plan implementation.
