The town's more interesting and important buildings and streets have been noted on a map and historic photograph, and are indexed to detailed descriptions in the book's directory. An annotated list of the thousands of men and women who once called Aurora home during the early 1860s has also been included. Even though there are no buildings left to see today, Aurora's historic importance was recognized in 1974 when the entire town site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
