The author also proposed that hope might function as a mediator between the stressor, job frustration, and job satisfaction. Positive and negative affects were controlled for due to their high correlation with the hope scale. The partial correlations showed no significant relationship between hope or its subscales and job satisfaction. The mediating hypotheses were not tested due to lack of support from the correlations. There was a significant negative relationship between negative affect and job satisfaction, though positive affect was not significant. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.
