Book excerpt: Excerpt from Eighth Biennial Report of Colorado State Board of Health: January 1, 1905, to December 31, 1906 During the calendar year of 1906 there were reported 503 cases of diphtheria, cases of scarlet fever, 265 cases of smallpox, cases of typhoid fever 'and deaths. Diphtheria and smallpox have decreased; scarlet fever and typhoid fever both show marked increase. The increase of typhoid fever has been principally in the Arkansas valley, where the disease has been epi demic each season for several years and is becoming more of a menace from year to year.
