Book excerpt: Today's church is one that is largely impacted by the world rather than being the standard-setters of righteousness and justice. Using the Book of Acts as our model, it becomes quite clear that we have deviated from the effectiveness of the original body. A glance at the church's history reveals a pattern of polarization among Gentile Believers and Israel that has resulted in the power of the Holy Spirit, so mightily present upon the early church, withdrawing from the church. For those who long for the presence of God to return to His people in fullness, the matter of the Jewish people is vital. God made a covenant with Abraham that still maintains today, "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:3). In order to find our way back to His presence and power, there must be restoration of the church's Jewish roots in God's purpose and mission for Israel.
