Job centres in the North Denmark Region are rather successful in getting job- or education-ready young people into employment or education within a reasonable time. There is, however, a group of particularly vulnerable young people who remain difficult to integrate in the labour market. This report shows that low education and mental ill-health are the main challenges. To bring down the share of young people who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET), the region will need to tackle early school leaving and invest in integrated mental health, education and employment services. The Investing in Youth series builds on the expertise of the OECD on youth employment, social policy and skills and reflects the OECD Recommendation on Creating Better Opportunities for Young People, which was adopted by all OECD Member countries in 2022. Investing in Youth covers both OECD countries and key emerging economies. Earlier reviews in the same series have looked at youth outcomes and policies in Brazil (2014), Latvia and Tunisia (2015), Australia, Lithuania and Sweden (2016), Japan (2017), Norway (2018), Finland, Korea and Peru (2019), and Slovenia (2021).
