Book excerpt: This portfolio of work called ‘Isolation Locations’ looks at how the characteristics of a defined location, (London), can be isolated by natural light to create new and compelling images. 9 locations were selected - representing the 9 letters of Isolation. Most of the images were taken at the beginning of the day or during the winter, with some being taken at night. Our brains and eyes used isolation to process the world we live in, which is why photographs need to isolate their subject and message in order to engage the viewer and trigger an emotional response.
