The steel industry has revived with multidimensional development in many countries, including India, and has emerged as a highly dynamic sector that continually has to face new challenges. Innovation, cost reduction, energy and raw material conservation are the key issues for steel industry, R&D centers and academic institutes. Microalloying 2007 organized as a part of year-long celebration of the sesquicentenary year of Bengal Engineering and Science University (Formerly, Bengal Engineering College) and diamond jubilee year of the Indian Institute of Metals, provides a forum for technical interaction among the related sectors for a critical review of the development on microalloyed steel and emerging technologies for newer applications and product development to meet the increasing demand of various industries.
