Book excerpt: We will develop and utilize scattering techniques to provide a complete understanding of self-assembly and network formation of conjugated polymer solutions in organic solvents. These novel materials are integral components of active layers in polymer solar cells and other organic electronics. Self-assembly of conjugated polymers in the bulk and in nano-confined volumes (emulsions) will be investigated with a variety of neutron scattering techniques. This will provide, for the first time, a systematic characterization of the bulk structure of these systems over a broad range of length-scales (0.1-10,000 nm).
