This book was released on 1985 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model to account for the effect of water ans nitrogen stress on spring wheat growth and yield has been developed. The model simulates water and heat transport in the soil-plant-atmosphere system, nitrogen transformation, nitrogen transport in the soil and uptake by plants, photosynthesis, and crop growth. The model is written in Pascal and consists of a main program and 22 procedures. It is suitabel for either mainframe or microcomputer use. To calibrate the model, data was collected in 1983 from a dryland spring wheat experiment on a Hanning silt loam soil, in 6 plots (2 treatments, 0 and 101 kg N/ha. and 3 replications) located near Davenport, Lincoln country, Washington. Soil temperature at 3 and 50 cm. depth, soil water content, total dry matter production, leaf area index. plant nitrogen content and grain yield were simulated with reasonable accuracy. The model was tested using data from Logan (Utah) in 1982, consisting of 30 different combinations of water (6 levels) and nitrogen (5 levels). Simulated dry matter and grain yeild agreed well with data reported, but adjustments of allowable translocation of C and N were needed.
