Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emanating from a project begun in 1994 for the European studies program at the U. of Bath, this volume reports the results of a survey completed by 888 respondents from a small manufacturing town near Como and an industrial suburb of Milan, Italy (shown on maps.) Given Italy's diverse regional paths to modernity, the questionnaire addressed individualistic, family, and collective values. The results indicate that while family and social ties remain forte, those to political parties and trade unions have weakened. "Leghist" apparently refers to the Catholic-linked Lega Nord (Northern League) party. Includes the questionnaire and supporting tables and figures. Publication of the results of parallel French case studies is pending. Annotation copyrighted by Book News Inc., Portland, OR
