Book excerpt: Barna Beal "Tall Barney" was born in 1835 on Beal's Island (now part of Jonesport), Maine, the son of Barnabas Coffin and Lucinda Dole Beal. He married Phebe Ann Stanwood in 1855 at Milbridge, Maine. They had eleven children, 1858-1885. He died in 1899. Descendants lived in Maine, Massachusetts, and elsewhere.
