Book excerpt: Studies were conducted to develop the altitude technique into a test of decompression adequacy which can be used as a research tool for the evaluation of existing and new decompression procedures in the standard range of nitrogen-oxygen diving. An experimental design was formulated which investigated the technique in relation to acceptable test standards, i.e. reliability, validity, objectivity and others. The altitude technique proved to predict decompression adequacy for the standard range of nitrogen-oxygen diving. (Author).
