Though he does have help, it is alone that he must, like David of the Bible, face down his own Goliath...if he's got the guts. Throughout the journey, Amos is haunted by a recurring dream in which his mother will surely die. As for the end of that dream, it never comes-at least, not when Amos is asleep. But when it does come, Amos Beery knows that he will never again be the same.
