Financial literacy enables an individual to gain a better understanding of financial instruments and the risk and return involved in investment at various avenues. The financial literacy helps to overcome problems relating to personal finance such as savings, borrowings, investments, retirement planning, etc. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has defined financial literacy as “a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual well-being”.
