One night, the New Order Police arrive for Jakes best friend, Jos; she has been labeled an undesirable, and Jake blames himself for her disappearance. Quickly, Jake is forced to consider the horrors of the outside world. His grandfather explains the facts of the long-ago war, and Jake now realizes his own life might be in danger.
